With over 30 years working as a costume designer and maker for stage and screen, I have created everything from historic gowns to monstrous creatures. The items I enjoy creating the most are the small accessory pieces that add the finishing touches to the final design. Many times, these pieces are made with leftover scraps of fabrics and trims often requiring some creative puzzle solving that finally becomes a unique, one-of-a-kind design. I try to bring this creative resourcefulness to my up-cycled fashions by using recycled clothing to create unique hats and bags.

My process begins with sourcing denim, wool, and unique trims; I then process items by cleaning and de-constructing the original garments into useable fabric stock. Wool items are boiled and machine washed to create a dense felt perfect for hat construction. Denim jeans are de-constructed to use every part of the garment to add interesting detail to items.

I develop my own patterns for each design and test each for fit and sizing. All items are machine stitched and fully lined with cotton or rayon fabrics. Felt embellishments are machine or hand embroidered often with glass bead accents. I enjoy creating each piece to be a unique combination of color, pattern, and detail.
